Many teachers choose Absolutely Ottawa to learn Suzuki Method pedagogy from master teachers.


Institute provides wonderful opportunities to observe excellent Suzuki Method teaching.

Every Child Can! ( One day, six hour course )


This course is required of all teachers as pre-requisite to Book One Courses - all instruments. The fast-paced, engaging class is also open to parents, administrators, and others interested in the Suzuki approach. Students wishing to register for this class must be at the collegiate level or must have graduated from high school in the spring of 2018.

Violin Book One 28 hour course )


This course has a minimum of 28 class hours ( 100% attendance required in order to register the class with the Suzuki Association of the Americas ) and a minimum of 15 hours of observation of student lessons.

Violin Book Two ( 15 hour course)


This course has a minimum of 15 class hours ( 100% attendance required in order to register the class with the Suzuki Association of the Americas ) and a minimum of 8 hours of observation of student lessons.

Teacher Observer


Teacher Observers are welcome to observe all student classes, lessons, and Master Classes. Teacher Observers are not permitted to attend Teacher Training class sessions. 


Fee = $40 per day

Housing and Meals


Ottawa University dormitory housing is provided in suites with central living area and a bathroom for each suite of two bedrooms. Assignments will be made on a first-come / first-served basis. REGISTER EARLY. Prior notification of special needs is required so housing can be arranged to best accommodate needs. Indicate roommate requests on registration form. 


If staying in university housing, please bring towels, linens, blankets and pillows for all in your family.


Cost for Housing and Meals:


Cost per Individual for Teacher Training Book 1   $600

Housing is available Sunday night, June 3 through Saturday night, June 9

Meals are available Sunday, June 3 supper through Sunday, June 10 breakfast

Extra nights of housing (June 1 and June 2) are available at $40.00 per night


Cost per Individual for Teacher Training Book 2   $485

Housing is available Sunday night, June 3 through Friday night, June 8

Meals are available Sunday, June 3 supper through Friday, June 8 supper

Commuter Meal Cards


Commuter Meal Cards are available to off-campus participants and their family members. A meal card  costs $75 and entitles its holder to any 8 meals of his / her choosing throughout the week. Meals are also available on a cost per meal basis for participants living off campus and for guests. 

Note: The participant saves money by purchasing the meal card, if 8 meals are eaten.The Hetrick Dining Center is located in the Gibson Student Center in the center of the OU campus.

Additional Fee:


University Facility Fee = $100

This fee is required by the university only by those participants who do not choose the HOUSING/MEALS option.
