Dianne Borth

Ensembles and Theory

Dianne Borth graduated from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas, in 1974 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. In 1969 and 1972, she toured Europe as a member of a madrigal troupe. She taught elementary and secondary music education in Holcomb, Kansas, and Topeka, Kansas. She is a certified Kindermusic Instructor and has received Suzuki piano teacher training. She has taught piano privately for twenty years and has directed her church choir for ten years.

Dianne has played piano and organ for numerous schools, church and civic choirs, talent shows, etc. From 1990 to 1994, she performed with the Olathe Junior Service League Jabberwock Players presenting children’s theater in the 23 elementary schools in Olathe. She has written music for an original production that was presented in 1993. She has also appeared in Theater in the Park and Lyric Opera Theater productions. For the past nine summers she has taught theory classes for the Ottawa Suzuki Institute Mid-SW.

Currently, Dianne is teaching vocal music at Gardner-Edgerton High School, and Gardner Elemntary School, Gardner, Kansas. She is a member of the Kansas City Music Teacher’s Association, and serves on the board of the Kansas City Youth Symphony.

Dianne lives in Olathe, Kansas, with her husband Jim (OSSI Board of Directors member) and two of their children, Briana and Jessica, both of whom are enrolled in the Suzuki violin program. Their son Shane and their daughter Michaela are students at the UMKC Conservatory of Music where each is majoring in violin performance. They are both Ottawa Suzuki Strings alums.
