Thank you for your interest in the Ottawa Suzuki Strings! Below is the pertinent information you need to know. We will start a group of new students in January, 2012; instrument instruction can begin as early as age 2.

Parent Seminar

Parents of new beginners meet with Ottawa Suzuki Strings Teachers for a parent seminar. The parent seminar meets weekly for 4 weeks. Both parents are welcome; the parent who will be the primary ‘home teacher’ (who comes to all lessons and engineers the home practice) should plan to come every week. The seminar meets in the Carnegie Cultural Center, 2nd floor, at 501 S. Main Street, in Ottawa, KS.

Beginners’ Readiness Class

This is the time scheduled for the new beginners’ readiness class. The first class meeting will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. This class will continue weekly through the month of May (with one week off for Spring Break).

At Teacher/Parent Convenience
Weekly Private Lessons

Students (with a parent in attendance) have private lessons weekly. They will begin the week of February 6, after the parent seminar has concluded on Jan. 28. Lessons are scheduled at the mutual convenience and availability of both parent and teacher. Lessons are held in either the Carnegie Cultural Center at 501 S. Main in Ottawa, KS or at the Washburn Towers Suzuki Studios at 526 S. Main in Ottawa, KS.

New parent packet (a one-time purchase) $45.00
Tuition per month – $125.00
Per semester registration fee $75.00
Per semester program fee $75.00
Annual concert clothing fee (we provide black slacks, cummerbund, and a bow tie for the boys and dresses for girls). $10.00

Also, you could purchase a CD of the music your child will be studying. We have the Suzuki Violin School Bk. 1 CDs available for $15.95 plus tax of $1.42 for a total of $17.37. It could also be purchased at any music store which carries Suzuki Material.

Every Wednesday, Jan 4 – May 23.
“A Sound Start!” – For Children 0-3 – 9:30 a.m.
“Sound Adventures!” – For Children 4-5 – 10:45 a.m.

We highly recommend participation in “A Sound Start!/Sound Adventures!” This Suzuki Early Childhood Education class promotes and helps develop your child’s melodic awareness, listening skills, language, coordination, memory, social skills, self-expression, and self-confidence via singing, rhythm, and movement activities. A Thurs. early evening class could also be arranged if there is enough interest. Classes meet at the Carnegie Cultural Center at 501 S. Main in Ottawa, KS on the top floor.
